The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that it will open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from Ukraine to Russia every day at 10 am Moscow time (9 am Greek time), Reuters reported, citing the Interfax news agency.
Ukraine had categorically reject similar previous proposal from Russia.
The Russian Ministry Defense states that humanitarian corridors to Russia will open without requires approval from Kyiv. As for humanitarian corridors to other destinations, Moscow clarifies that “an agreement must be reached with the Ukrainian authorities.”
On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called the proposal to open humanitarian corridors for civilians going from Ukraine to Russia “irrational” and called on Moscow to allow civilians to leave safely.
More than 80,000 people have been displaced in the past two days from Sumy, a city in northeastern Ukraine and on the outskirts of Kiev, the Ukrainian government announced today.
