A British MP was charged with assault today after he allegedly punched a passer-by, who he claims was threatening him, following a night out on friday.

THE Mike Amesbury was ousted from the ruling Labor Party after he was caught on security camera footage and video punching and repeatedly kicking a man after he collapsed to the ground.

Following an assessment of the evidence provided by Cheshire Police, we approve the charge of common assault against Mike AmesburyRosemary Ainslie, head of the prosecution’s Special Crimes Unit, said.

After the incident, Amesbury, MP for the Runcorn and Helsby constituency in north-west England, said he felt threatened in the street after a night out with friends.
