The two El Al planes sent by Netanyahu to pick up and safely repatriate Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv fans after the overnight savage attack by a pro-Palestinian mob landed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport shortly after 9am.

The mission of the two C-130 transports that would have carried medical supplies for the wounded was canceled, according to reports.

A heavy police force has been deployed outside Schiphol Airport, in Departures Hall 3, in order to transport and safely board the planes for the Israeli fans.

The Israeli Foreign Minister is urgently in the Netherlands

Israel’s new Foreign Minister Gideon Sha’ar will go to Amsterdam immediately for an “urgent diplomatic visit”, as his services announced today.

“In light of the serious events, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar will soon depart for an urgent diplomatic visit to the Netherlands,” the ministry said in a statement.

At Platform X, the newly appointed Saar denounced the “terrible, barbaric and anti-Semitic attacks” which are a “resounding wake-up call for Europe and the whole world”.

All-night attacks on Israeli fans

Last night, after the end of the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv game, pro-Palestinian groups ambushed, beat and lynched Maccabi fans outside the stadium, continuing the chase and clashes in the center of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam police said five people were taken to hospital with injuries after the incidents in the city center and that they arrested 62 people.

Footage circulating on social media shows Israeli fans being beaten, chased by mobs with knives and dodging being hit by vehicles at the last minute.

Chaos was caused by the clashes while the Israeli government reports at least 10 injured and 2 missing. However, other information speaks of 100 injured.

Local police announced this morning that 57 people had been detained over the post-match incidents, which have sparked alarm in both governments.

Netherlands arrests

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu contacted his Dutch counterpart, Dick Schoff, this morning and asked for increased security for the Dutch Jewish community.

For his part, the Dutch Prime Minister said today that the violence aimed at Israeli citizens around a football match in Amsterdam is unacceptable and added that all perpetrators should be prosecuted.

“I watched the news from Amsterdam with disgust,” Schoff wrote in X.

Anti-Muslim politician Geert Wilders, leader of the largest party in the Dutch government, also condemned the brutal incidents. “It’s a shame that this can happen in the Netherlands. Totally unacceptable,” he wrote to X.
