“He will be a fearless defender of the constitutional rights of all Americans,” assured Mr. Trump
The Republican president-elect of the USA Donald Trump announced yesterday Tuesday his intention to appoint John Ratcliffe – former congressman, former prosecutor and for some months the coordinator (“director”, DNI) of the US intelligence services – as its new director C.I.A.
“He will be a fearless defender of the constitutional rights of all Americans,” assured Mr. Trump, who will take office on January 20, 2025, via Truth Social.
Mr. Ratcliffe took over as DNI in May 2020, eight months before the end of Mr. Trump (2017-2021).
The Texan, a former member of the House of Representatives and a former prosecutor, has been accused by Democrats and former intelligence officials of declassifying classified information in order for Mr. Trump and his Republican allies to launch attacks against their opponents, including outgoing President Joe Biden.
The services of Mr. Ratcliffe had denied it.
The media had also noted that John Ratcliffe was probably exaggerating his alleged experience in the so-called war on terror when he was a prosecutor in Texas.
