Admiral Nicolas Vozour in a hearing in the French Senate on October 23, expressed the hope that “this situation will be corrected in the coming years”
“Compared to the defense and intervention frigates ordered by Greece, the counterparts intended for the French navy will be less armed, at a time when there is constant talk of ‘high intensity’ battles and tougher naval operations.”
This is highlighted in a publication of the French magazine Zone Militaire, specialized in defense systems, where it is underlined that “the Greek frigates will be able to deploy 8 Exocet MM40 Block 3C anti-ship missiles, 32 Aster 15/30 surface-to-air missiles, a 76 mm turret, a system RAM and two remote-controlled 20mm cannons, while they will also be equipped with two triple torpedo launchers.
The publication also states that the head of France’s General Defense Staff, Admiral Nicolas Vozour, admitted at a hearing in the French Senate on October 23 that “(France’s) frigates for defense and intervention are less armed than those that France sold to Greeks”, expressing at the same time the hope that this situation will be corrected in the coming years.
