Confirmed ‘Improvised bomb threat’ at Zeldin’s home, with message that had a ‘pro-Palestine theme – Luckily his family wasn’t there
Multiple candidates and appointees of Donald Trump’s administration have been targeted with bomb threats, the FBI said. The agency confirmed it is aware of “multiple bomb threats” as well as “swatting” incidents, where prank calls are made to provoke a police response to the target’s home.
The swatting is an act of criminal harassment to trick an emergency service (through such means as tricking an emergency dispatcher) into sending a police or emergency response team to another person’s address.
OR Republican Elise Stefanik from New York, whom Trump has nominated for US Ambassador to the UN, was the first to report that her family’s home had been targeted with a bomb threat. She learned of the threat while driving with her husband and three-year-old son from Washington to New York for Thanksgiving. Police are investigating the incidents, which happened on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Trump’s nominee for Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnickwas also targeted, as was Lee Zeldin, a candidate to head the Environmental Protection Agency. A “homemade bomb threat” was confirmed at Zeldin’s home, with a “pro-Palestine themed” message. Fortunately, he and his family were not at home at the time.
THE Republican Matt Gage from Florida, who recently withdrew his bid for US Attorney General, was also targeted. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed that a bomb threat was made to an address in Niceville. No bomb device was found during the police search.
In addition, Trump’s nominees for CIA chief John Ratcliffe and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth were also reported to have been targeted amid the spate of threats. Local authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those involved.
