The Russian invasion of Ukraine is escalating, with fighting raging for 18 days on several fronts.

Russian warplanes bombed at 11.05 last night, the Lavra Monastery of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Sviatogirsk, in the Donetsk region. The news was announced in a post on Telegram, the Ukrainian border guard

The monastery, belonging to the 13th century, belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and hosted – according to information – 520 refugees, including 200 children.

The head of a non-governmental organization operating in the area, said that the fires hit the woman.

So far, there are reports of several wounded, refugees and monks.

In Kyiv, at 3.30 in the morning sounded again sirens for air raid. Through a telegram, the regional administration of the city asked everyone to go to the shelters in a hurry.

Mariupol is also experiencing dramatic moments, where according to the BBC, the Russian army is said to have entered the eastern part of the city. The Ukrainian Port Authority announced that it had lost all communication with the port of Mariupol and the personnel present there.

New satellite photos taken yesterday show extensive damage to urban infrastructure and apartment buildings across Mariupol.

According to the American company Maxar Technologies, which published the photos, fires can be seen in the western part of the city, while dozens of high-rise apartment buildings have been severely damaged.

The cities of Kharkiv and Sumy remain under siege and are hit by heavy Russian bombardment.

The city of Volnovacha, in eastern Ukraine, has been completely destroyed after the Russian invasion. However, according to the governor of Donetsk, fighting continues in the area, in order to prevent Russian forces from encircling the city.

Earlier in the day, a convoy of civilians trying to flee the village of Peremoha in the greater Kiev area was hit by Russian forces.

According to the Ukrainian intelligence service, seven civilians were killed, including a child, while the Russians forced those who had remained from the convoy to return to the village from where they started.
