Emmanuel Macron, commenting on the motion of censure against the Barnier government filed by the left alliance, expressed the belief that “it will not be overvoted”, saying that he “trusts the cohesion of the people”.

“My priority is stability,” the French president told reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Saudi Arabia. According to him, the National Rally would be “unbearably cynical” if it voted in favor of the proposal tabled by the left, “which insults its voters”, while the Socialist Party, and in particular former president Francois Hollande, would appear “inconsequential”. if he wins.

The French president also stressed that we should not “frighten the citizens” citing the risk of an economic crisis. “We have a strong economy,” he insisted. “France is a rich, stable country, which has made many reforms and maintains them, has stable institutions, a stable Constitution,” he argued.

As for calls for him to step down from his rivals, Emmanuel Macron assured that he had never considered leaving the Elysees before the end of his term in 2027.

“It doesn’t make sense, it’s frankly out of reality,” said the French president.

“If I am here, it is because I was elected twice by the French people. I am extremely proud of it and I will honor this trust with all the energy I have until the last second to be useful to the country,” he added.
