What the Ukrainian side had announced earlier

Earlier, the Ukrainian side announced that 35 people had died in an airstrike in military base near Lviv.

The governor of Lviv said 35 people had been confirmed dead after the Russian missile attack on the International Peace and Security Center base on Sunday morning.

In a statement, Maksym Kozytskyy said the death toll had risen from 9 to 35 and that 134 had been injured in airstrikes on facilities in Yavoriv.

Two large explosions occurred Sunday at the base in Javoriv, a guard town just 12 kilometers from the Polish border. The rocket attack took place at 5.45 am. Kozytskyi said Russian forces had fired more than 30 cruise missiles at the Yavoriv base.

The facility has previously hosted foreign military trainers from the UK, US and other countries, but it is unclear if any were still at base.

Ukraine conducted most of its exercises with NATO countries there before the invasion with the last major exercises taking place in September.
