The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken scolded his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrovaccusing him of spreading a “tsunami of misinformation” and blaming Moscow for the escalation in Ukraine.

“I regret that our colleague, Mr. Lavrov, left the room, not giving me the opportunity out of courtesy to listen to us as we listened to him. And of course, our Russian colleague is too charismatic to drown the listeners in a tsunami of misinformation“, said Mr. Blinken addressing the ministerial meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe held in Malta.

The US Secretary of State also strongly condemned “the repression” in Georgia “of those who call for their country to remain on the path of close relations with Europe”.

“We support the right to peaceful demonstrations and condemn the crackdown on those who want their country to stay on the path of close relations with Europe, especially the attacks and arrests of journalists,” said Anthony Blinken.
