Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba yesterday criticized Germany’s policy towards Russia in recent decades.
Speaking on a German public television network ARD last night, Kouleba argued that Berlin was responsible for helping Russia find itself where it is today.
He added that because of this, he hopes that Berlin will take measures that will be able to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Calling Germany and Ukraine “partner countries”, the head of Ukrainian diplomacy expressed hope that Berlin would help the Ukrainian army secure the weapons it needed, punish Russia with tougher sanctions, and support Kyiv in its efforts. with a view to joining the European Union.
He acknowledged that the process of joining the EU could be a long one, but said that Ukraine belonged to Europe and that its accession would make the Old Continent safer.
Dmitro Kuleba acknowledged that Berlin had made tough decisions in the early days of the war, assuring that he understood that policy changes were not easy in Germany. For years, he said, the German political leadership relied on dialogue.
But he added that now people are seeing what he called the true face of Russia, calling on Germany to acknowledge that it was wrong and to correct its course. He warned that the world must stop Russian President Vladimir Putin because otherwise Ukraine will not be the last country he targets.
