Israel and Hezbollah frequently accuse each other of violations of the truce reached on November 27 that ended open warfare
One dead and one wounded is the toll of an Israeli strike in the southern Lebanese city of Hiam, a few hours after the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the area. “A wound by the Israeli enemy in the city of Hiam caused the death of one person and the injury of another,” according to a statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The ceasefire agreement reached on November 27 ended (in theory at least) the open war between Israel and Hezbollah, which has killed nearly 4,000 people in the past two months in Lebanon. Israel and Hezbollah frequently accuse each other of ceasefire violations.
The agreement provided for the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Lebanon within 60 days, underlining that only the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers could be deployed in the southern part of the country.
The Lebanese army has been deployed on the outskirts of the city of Hiam, about 5 kilometers from the border with Israel. It was preceded by an inspection of the area by peacekeepers of the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL), who verified the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
