The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, proposes Michael Rigas, of Greek origin, for the position of deputy foreign minister.

Earlier in his career, Rigas spent a decade in the private sector, including roles with Mellon Financial and Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.

During the George W. Bush administration, Rigas was an associate administrator at the General Services Administration (GSA). He was responsible for increasing federal government contracting with women-owned, veteran-owned, and service-disabled small businesses.

In June 2017, the White House announced that it would nominate Rigas to serve as deputy director of the Office of Personnel Management.

For the past 20 years he has worked in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with a track record of improving organizational performance and streamlining operations.

According to his resume, he is an executive with over two decades of experience leading organizations through change in the public, private and non-profit sectors, including banking and government.

He has experience as CEO, COO and CMO. He was CEO of an organization that manages human resources, talent acquisition, development and policy for 2.1 million federal government employees. He was also concurrently the Chief Executive Officer of the federal government.

He was also a C-Suite executive, consistently achieving outstanding results and reducing the organization’s costs. He has a rich academic background in economics, international trade, leadership and multilateral negotiations as well as conflict resolution.

At the General Services Administration (GSA), Mike served as both Senior Advisor and Deputy Administrator. At the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Affairs, Mike served as chief of staff and later at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.
Mike’s private sector experience includes Mellon Financial Corporation and Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. Mike holds a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from Boston University.
