The USA imposed new sanctions against it today of Russia and her North Koreatargeting Pyongyang’s economic activities and military support to Moscow.

The US sanctions – which include banks, generals and other officials in North Korea, as well as shipping companies involved in transporting Russian oil – are part of Washington’s efforts to end North Korea’s support for Russian military operations in Ukraine;

North Korean banks are included in the “black list” of the US Treasury Department Golden Triangle Bank and Korea Mandal Credit Bank. Among the officials subject to sanctions are North Korean army generals who lead forces Pyongyang has deployed in Russia to bolster Moscow’s military operations in Ukraine.

Last week, Kiev claimed that Russia began to is using significant numbers of North Korean troops in attacks against Ukrainian forces for the first time who maintain under their control territories of the Russian Kursk region.

Kyiv estimates that approx 11,000 North Korean troops deployed alongside Russian forces. For its part, Moscow neither confirms nor denies the presence of North Korean troops on Russian soil.
