Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Uzbek counterpart Savkat Mirziyoyev discussed their countries’ counter-terrorism cooperation in a phone call earlier today, the Kremlin said.
THE president of Uzbekistan expressed his condolences to Putin over the death of General Igor Kirillov – head of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection units of the Russian Federation armed forces – and his aide in a bomb attack in Moscow on Tuesday.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) claimed responsibility for the killing of Kirillov, whom Kiev had accused of using chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops. Moscow has denied Kiev’s claims.
An Uzbek man was arrested and accused of planting the bomb that killed Kirillov and his aide. Yesterday Thursday, the arrested man was brought before a court in Moscow.
OR Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) and the relevant agencies of Uzbekistan are working together to fully clarify the case, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
