The US and Britain launched fresh airstrikes on Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Friday, a day after heavy Israeli bombardment killed at least six people, the Houthi rebels said tonight.

In their messages on the Telegram platform, the Houthis spoke of “an attack by American and British forces”.

According to witnesses cited by the French News Agency (AFP), at least one powerful explosion occurred in the area of the Yemeni capital.

The Houthi rebels control most of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, and are backed by Iran, Israel’s sworn enemy. Since the war in the Gaza Strip broke out on October 7, 2023, triggered by an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on southern sectors of Israeli territory, the Houthis have launched dozens of attacks against Israel, whose army has repeatedly retaliated. .

The Yemeni rebel movement insists it is taking these actions as a sign of “solidarity” with the Palestinians in Gaza.
