The decree is in line with the broader regression of trans TRANS policies, including bans in military service and non -recognition of non -binary identities
By signing a new executive decree on Tuesday, President Donald Trump is targeting to limit gender transition for people under 19 years of age.
Trump’s executive decree prohibits federal programs in the US, such as Medicaid and Tricare from covering the care that gender confirmed for minors and urges legal action to oppose practice.
The order can lead to funding cuts for hospitals and universities that provide care to transsexuals and making changes to the state programs that cover it.
What does the Executive Decree include:
According to the decree, federal insurance programs, including Tricare for military families and Medicaid, exclude coverage for such care. It calls on the Ministry of Justice to continue vigorously the judicial appeal, and the legislation to oppose practice.
It also guides the Federal Program of Health Employees, which covers over 8 million people, to abandon the care that confirms gender for trans young people. It specifically aims at inhibition of treatment (with hormones) and gender -confirming surgery.
“Today throughout the country, medical professionals are destroying a growing number of impressive children with the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” the decree said. “This dangerous tendency will be a blotch in the history of our nation and it must end.”
Critics are awaiting judicial challenges, as this is aligned with the broader set -up of Trans policies by Trump, including bans in military service and non -recognition of non -dual -identity.
Like most executive warrants, it determines the establishment of rules to be undertaken by federal services within 30 to 60 dayswhich means that it is not in immediate power. However, supporters of LGBTQ+ are concerned that any federal policy attempts to limit the care confirmed by the sex will cause negative reactions between providers, resulting in people losing care anyway.
