Russia launched 81 unmanned aircraft in Ukraine overnight, causing damage to businesses and homes across the country
A Russian drone hit a high -rise apartment building in the town of Sumi, northeast Ukraine on Thursday, killing nine people and injuring 13, including a child, President Volodimir Zelenski said.
“We receive updates on the situation in Sumi. Work at the point of impact of a Russian “shahad” (drone) is ongoing, “Zelenski said in a video.
“This is a characteristic of Russian actions – destroying the lives of many families of an entire building. Every such blow needs an answer from the world, “he said. “Terror cannot go unpunished.”
Russia fired 81 unmanned aircraft in Ukraine overnight, causing damage to businesses and homes across the country, the Ukrainian army said Thursday.
Air Force broke 37 drones, while another 39 did not reach their goals. He did not specify what happened to the five remaining drones.
Sumi’s governor, Volodimir Artht, who appears in a video on Telegram at night in front of a crane and piles of ruins, said emergency services were recovering residents from parts of the building.
The attack destroyed five apartments and caused damage to more than 20 cars, authorities said. Internet photos showed emergency workshops to look for the ruins.
The area is bordered by Russia’s Kursk area, where Ukraine launched an invasion operation in August 2024 and receives regular attacks by Russian unmanned aircraft.
An attack at night in the southern area of Odessa caused damage to a cereal warehouse, a hospital and two private homes without causing victims, according to the governor.
Russia refuses to deliberately target civilians, but thousands were killed and injured when Moscow troops fired a complete scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
