Less than a year ago, Jack Lopreste was a member of the Conservatives for the Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency near Bristol. Today, he is in Ukraine, working with the country’s army against the Russian invasion.

The former MP, who has served as a reserve soldier in Afghanistan, stressed in an interview with Trevor Philip on Sky News’ Sunday Morning show that “If Ukraine falls … we know what will happen next.”

“The last time I spoke to the House of Commons, I said that the UK’s defense starts with Ukraine”said Lopresti by adding: “I’ve been here (in Ukraine) for two years, helping charities to work with defense industries in my constituency. And when it became clear that the political situation in my party was difficult, I decided that if I were not re -elected, I would come here to do what I could to help. And I knew in the back of my mind that I would probably end up in the army, as it did. “
