Today at 12:00 noon the quadripartite meeting of prime ministers of the European South will take place, in which Kyriakos Mitsptakis will participate through a teleconference.
The meeting will take place in Rome, where – apart from the Italian Mario Draghi – will be present the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez and the Prime Minister of Portugal, Antonio Costa.
In his statements yesterday, Mario Draghi spoke of a common front of the countries of the South.
“Tomorrow’s meeting was born spontaneously and it is important to coordinate our positions in the run-up to the new European Summit, with two main objectives: one is to be able to set a gas price cap, which we consider necessary.
“The second issue is that the price of electricity depends, so far, on the price of gas, while we believe that the cost of the two energy sources should be separated,” Draghi said in connection with today’s meeting in Rome. , with Costas and Sanchez and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis via video conference as he falls ill with coronavirus.
It is recalled that Kyriakos Mitsotakis has already requested through the “six points” plan and the relevant letter to the President of the European Commission to intervene to put a “brake” on the increase of gas prices to disconnect the geopolitics from the energy crisis.
