PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan is working on a “democratic solution” for the Kurds, a delegation of pro -Turkish MPs in Arbil said.

“Despite the difficult conditions, Mr Ocalan is struggling to achieve a democratic solution on legal bases,” He said from the capital of the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan, one of the members of the delegation, Keskin Bayidir, DBP co -chairman of Turkey’s small pro -Kurdish party.

The delegation met with the Nesirvan Barzanipresident of the autonomous province of Kurdistan in northern Iraq, as part of its mediation between Ankara and PKK with the aim of ending the 40 -year conflict that has caused the deaths of at least 40,000 people.

Ankara, who considers the PKK terrorist organization, has begun a dialogue with the historical leader in prison for 26 years, through MPs of Turkish pro -Kurkutic DEM parties, a third force of the Turkish parliament, and the DBP, which has two seats.

“The Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East are waiting for the Kurdish problem to be resolved on a democratic and legal basis (…) both in Turkey and in the whole of Kurdistan,” said Keskin Bayidir.

People without a state, the Kurds are shared between Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

The Turkish delegation had a meeting yesterday with the historic Kurdo leader of Iraqi Massoud Barzani.

Tomorrow he will visit Suleimaniya, the second largest city of Iraqi Kurdistan, to meet Bafel Talabani, president of the Kurdistan Patriotic Union (UPK), of the other historic Iraqi Kurdish faction.
