Ninety -three bodies have so far been exiled by two group graves recently found in Libya during security forces against illegal human trafficking networks, according to a new report released today by the UN.

“The worrying and tragic discovery of group tombs after raids on human trafficking locations highlights the serious risk of immigrants in Libya,” UN Security Council meeting told UN Deputy Secretary General for political affairs.

“On February 7, a group tomb was discovered on a farm in the jihara area in northeast Libya and the next day another group tomb was discovered in the city of Koufou in southeast,” he noted.

“To date, 93 bodies have been exiled to jihara and the buzz,” he said, without clarifying how many corpses were found in one location and how many in the other, denouncing the “harsh and inhumane treatment” that immigrants, including children, in the country, in the country. .

Ten days ago, the Libyan Attorney General’s office announced that 28 bodies of immigrants from sub -Saharan Africa had been found in a group grave discovered in the Koufoura area during a business in a area holding a network of traffickers where “captives were held”.

A survey revealed the existence of a “gang whose members abducted irregular immigrants, tortured them and submitted them to harsh, degrading and inhumane treatment,” the prosecutor’s prosecutor added.

Subsequently, the International Organization for Migration reported the location of a second group grave in jihara, where 19 corpses had been found, and the DOM stressed that he could contain up to 70 relics in the bell.

About 300 kilometers from the Italian coast, Libya, which sank into chaos after the overthrow of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, was gradually turned into a junction of irregular migration to Europe via the Mediterranean.

There are two governments in the country, one in the west and one in its eastern part. The internationally recognized national unity government, based in Tripoli, has assumed power through a process backed by the United Nations in 2021, but parliament in the eastern part of the country has not recognized it for years. The dominant in the eastern part is Commander Khalifa Haftar.

Tens of thousands of immigrants from sub -Saharan Africa, crossing Libya in their attempt to reach Europe, fall victim to traffickers.

The discovery of these mass graves “is a new reminder of the urgent need to protect immigrants and the fight against trafficking in human beings,” Dikarlo said, calling for “complete and independent investigation” to bring the officials to justice.
