Turkish and British officials will discuss the future of Syria during a meeting tomorrow in Ankara.

The agenda of discussions includes issues related to safety, sanctions, and economic growth, a source from the Turkish Foreign Ministry said today.

Turkey, a member of NATO, was the central supporter of the rebels who have been fighting against Bashar al -Assad for years, while maintaining close relations with the new administration in Damascus after Assad’s fall from power last year.

Ankara has promised helping to rebuild Syria, but also for education, but also to supply weapons and equipment of the country’s security forces.

Britain said last month that it would adjust its sanctions against the Syrian government after Assad’s fall, however, ensuring that they will remain in force, freezing assets and travel prohibitions against members of the previous government.
