Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni today had a meeting in London with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski on the sidelines of the leaders’ meeting in Great Britain.

According to a statement from the Italian government, the meeting enabled Italy’s support again to Ukraine and its people and the commitment, along with European and Western partners, and the United States, to build a fair and enduring peace, which will be a fair and lasting peace.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, for his part, said Sunday that he met with Italian Prime Minister George Meloni to discuss a joint action plan to end the war.

“I had a productive meeting with Italian Council President @Giorgiameloni to develop a joint action plan to end the war with a fair and constant peace”he says in a post on the X Platform the Ukrainian President and adds:

“It is important to maintain the unity around Ukraine and to strengthen the position of our country in cooperation with our allies – the countries of Europe and the United States. Ukraine needs peace supported by strong security guarantees. I am grateful to Italy for its continued support and its cooperation to approach peace in Ukraine. “
