A negative picture of Donald Trump’s presidency and the direction in which the US leads the majority of US citizens, according to a poll conducted by SSRS on CNN, shortly before the first official speech of the US president before Congress.

Specifically, the Americans are negatively evaluating Donald Trump’s performance based on three key indicators imprinted by the poll: his popularity, whether he has set the right priorities and whether his policy leads the country in the right direction.

More specifically, 52% of respondents condemns Trump’s performance In the presidency, compared to 48% of a positive opinion, with the picture not changing significantly compared to the CNN poll in February. It is noted that this poll ended with the stormy meeting of the US president with his Ukrainian counterpart at the Oval Office on Friday, so it does not reflect the view of public opinion on this unprecedented incident.

Trump remains particularly popular among the Republicans (90% of whom he approves his government manipulations), and extremely unpopular among democrats (90% of them condemns him).

As for the independent, Only 41% approve of his movements versus 59% that condemns them. The discontent of Trump’s moves among the independent has increased a bit compared to February, when 43% expressed a positive opinion and 56% negative.

The acceptance rate of 48% of Trump before his first speech in Congress is, however, higher than in 2017, before that year’s speech.

At the same time, the poll captures the strong skepticism of Americans for Trump’s policy. 45% believe that the US president is leading the country in the wrong directionand only 39% towards the correct one, while 15% do not express an opinion on this question. In early March 2017, shortly after the first Trump speech in Congress, the Americans were almost shared on whether Trump’s policies are moving in the right or wrong direction.

The majority of Americans, and in particular 52%, also believe that Trump has not put enough emphasis on the major problems the country is facing, compared to 40% they consider to have the right priorities and 8% are not certain.

It is noteworthy that doubts about the president’s priorities also expresses and a small but remarkable percentage of those who have a positive opinion For his journey so far in the presidency (12%) and those who say that his policies are leading the country in the right direction (9%). Also noteworthy is the percentage of Republicans (18%) and the independent who lean towards the Conservatives who say that it has not yet focused on the most important issues that concern citizens.

In terms of demographic characteristics, the President’s popularity remains low among the younger adults (18 to 34), 41%of Spanish adults, also 41%, and black adults, 28%. The same is true of (57% of women condemns their manipulations against 42% approved), while men generally have a positive opinion on the president (54% versus 46%). Trump, however, remains very popular, with 61%, among whites without a college degree.
