Brad Sigon, 67, “chose” to lead to the executive excerpt, out of fear and despair for other methods
Deathly, who has been sentenced to the last sentence of murder in South Carolina, is expected to be killed today by an executive excerpt, which will be done in the US for the first time in fifteen years – the last one was done in 2010 in Utah in Utah
Brad Sigmon, a 67 -year -old Brad Sigmon, was sentenced to death in 2002 for beating to death with a baseball bat of his former girlfriend, David and Gladis Lark.
This will be the fourth execution that will take place in the US for the last 65 years.
The execution of Simon, which will take place at the Broad River Foundation, has rekindled discussions about whether shot from shot is a more “human” alternative to fatal injection or electric shock.

The ‘best’ choice
The legislation in the state of South Carolina predicts that the default method of execution is the electric chair, but the killer is given the opportunity to choose, the execution of rifle or the use of deadly injectable chemicals are proposed as alternatives.
Three deaths executed in South Carolina since September, the first after a 13 -year -old cessation, all chose the injection. But Brad Sigmon, in despair, chose the executive excerpt, according to the defense.
One of his advocates, Gerald King, denounced last month the “impossible choice” between the “archaic electric chair of South Carolina, which burns you alive” and “the equally monstrous alternative”.
Shooters will be all volunteers

The South Carolina Prison Service officially announced in 2022 that it was renovated and was now ready to welcome an executive excerpt.
In the room, a chair was placed in a corner and bulletproof glass to protect the witnesses from the bullets.
The design stipulates that the killer will be driven to the chair, wear a hood, there will be a window through which he will be shot in the trunk in front of a five -meter wall of three shooters – they will all be volunteers.
Still five scheduled executions in March
There have been five executions in the US since the beginning of the year, four using fatal injectable chemicals and one with nitrogen inhalation in Alabama (southeast). The state of Alabama began to use this particular way of killing in January 2024. This method, until then unprecedented, is considered particularly controversial and UN experts call it a form of “torture”.
However, another state in the American South, Louisiana, decided to resume the executions after a 15 -year cessation, using this method of nitrogen inhalation from March 18th.
Five executions are projected to take place in March in the US, including Jessie Hoffman in Louisiana on March 18th with nitrogen inhalation.
The death penalty has been abolished in 23 of the 50 US states.
Six (Arizona, California, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Tennessee) apply a moratorium to its imposition, under the decisions of their rulers.
