At least thirteen people were killed in Argentina due to the heavy rainfall that hit the city of Blanca, a well -known resort and port of the country in the Atlantic Ocean, 600 kilometers southwest of Buenos.

Eleven from thirteen victims have been recognized.

The Municipal Council did not rule out the possibility of 350,000 residents dead in this city.

Minister of National Security Patricia Bulrice stressed how Baia Blanca is now a “damaged city” and said investigations are being continued to identify two little girls who were probably “dragged out of the water”.

According to local reports, these are two sisters, one year old and four years old.

Some 850 people were still displaced yesterday afternoon, according to municipal data.

According to authorities, Blanca fell within eight hours of 400 mm of rain, or in other words as it usually falls during a whole year.

The phenomenon was “unprecedented”, underlined by Javier Alonso, a security minister in the province of Buenos Aires, where Baia Blanca is administratively undergoing. “The largest storm in Baia Blanca was noted in 1930”, when “175mm” rainfall was recorded, while the one that hit the city was “almost three times”, he explained.

The government released an urgent aid of 10 billion pesos (€ 8.6 million).

Yesterday the media spoke of looting at night, transmitting visual material from shops that suffered vandalism.

The airport in Baja Blanca closed until younger and authorities ordered to cut electricity in some areas of the city to prevent the risk of electric shock.

During the day yesterday, the city’s electricity company said that the interruption was hit by 120,000 users.

Rainfall is projected to continue north – the Argentine meteorological service issued an extraordinary warning report on the northwestern part of the country. The Tukuman province (northwest) is already affected by floods.
