Seven members of the football legendary medical team, Diego Maradona, are tried today, Tuesday in Buenos Aires on charges of homicide.

Maradona died after a heart attack at his home in the capital of Argentina, where he recovered from surgery to remove blood clot in his brain in November 2020. His medical team is accused of contributing to his death because of negligence.

The great footballer struggled with obesity, alcoholism and addiction in drugs for decades. But prosecutors concluded that the death of the World Cup winner could have been avoided if there was no negligence by his doctors, according to Sky News.

Seven of eight people accused of the case – including Maradona’s brain surgeon, psychiatrist and nurses – are tried for negligent homicide, a crime similar to negligent homicide.

Everyone denying the offense but may face up to 25 years in prison.

Who are the defendants

THE neurologist of Maradona, Leopoldo luquewho has been his personal doctor for years and conducted the surgery to remove the thrombus in the brain, is one of the seven people who are being tried, as well as Psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, which had prescribed Diegito’s medicines.

The categories were documented after the prosecutor’s office appointed a medical committee to find out if there is any evidence that Maradona doctors committed manslaughter.
