Trump described the change as a positive development in social media posting with which he announced the new role of Kloge
The US president Donald Trump said on Saturday that he appoints the Keith Kloge As his special envoy to Ukraine, limiting the portfolio of the retired general following the reports that he was abolished during recent US-Russia talks at the request of the Kremlin, according to Bloomberg.
Trump described the change as a positive development in social media posting with which he announced the new role of Kloger, who was previously a special envoy to the president for both Ukraine and Russia.
“General Kogg, a highly respected military expert, will deal directly with (Ukrainian) President Zelenski, and the Ukrainian leadership,” Trump Social told Truth. “He knows them well and have a very good relationship between cooperation with each other. Congratulations to General Kloge!”
Kogg had initially been selected to lead the negotiations and help end Russia’s three -year war in Ukraine. When Trump announced his first place in November, he proclaimed that the two men would jointly secure a “peacekeeper”. In February, Kloger consulted European leaders while refining a plan to resolve the conflict.
However, in recent days, the role and the presence of Klogers itself in talks have been reduced, even when other top Trump officials, including National Security Consultant Mike Walts and the Special Envoy for the Middle East Side Witten.
Klogk was excluded from talks in Riyadh at the request of the Kremlin, which he considered to be very close to Ukraine, NBC News said Thursday.
At least unofficially, the Witten role is expected to be further upgraded. Witten, who has already helped to release American teacher Marc Fogel after years of detention in Russia, seeks to release Hamas hostages while participating in talks with Russia.
Kloger, a fierce critic of former US President Joe Biden’s foreign policy and the approach of the war in Ukraine, served in various roles during Trump’s first term in the White House, including as a Councilor and Executive Secretary of the Council. A retired Lieutenant General of the US Army had previously been in favor of strengthening Ukraine’s defense to discourage Russian attacks in the country.
