The main object of the discussion was the strategy that Italy should adopt after the last move by the Trump government
Italian Prime Minister Georgia Mellona has changed her current program and convened a meeting of her government to discuss new data as they were formed after the imposition of duties on European Union countries by the United States.
The meeting was reportedly attended by Italian Finance Minister Giancarlo Georgetti, Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lolobritzida and head of the Ministry of Commerce and “Made in Italy” Antolfo Ursos.
The main subject of the debate, in the presence of both government vice -presidents Antonio Tayyani and Matteo Salvini, was the strategy that Italy should adopt after this last move by the Trump government.
Matteo Salvini’s Lega, as he leaked, emphasized that since the United States has decided to protect their businesses, and Italy must continue to defend its national interest “in the light of excessive restrictions”.
Georgia Meloni reiterated today that “she remains convinced that efforts must be made to prevent, in any way, a trade war that would not favor the United States or Europe.”
The President of the Italian Republic Sergio Matarella, finally, said in his statements that there should be an answer “since the US president refers to a trade war” but that “this European answer should be vigorous, sober and decisive”.
