History lessons are often forgotten that in times of world conflict there are no isolated islands of peace and tranquility, President Roumen Radev wrote on Facebook today. Bulgaria and the Hashemist Kingdom of Jordan are hosting in Sofia the Akaba procedure conference on the Balkans.

The great challenge that people are facing today is to free themselves from the illusion that peace and security can only be guaranteed for one country and an area or at the expense of someone else. The Balkans are particularly sensitive to the issue of security because they are directly suffering from the consequences of military conflict in the region. Conflicts that fuel the illegal movement of people, immigration, radicalization and terrorism. Nowadays, when security becomes a daily challenge, it is particularly important for states leaders to exchange opinions and look for joint ways to strengthen it, President Radev stressed.

In a period of sudden deterioration of the security environment, more voices of leaders and experts must be heard and their views, experience and suggestions be respected. If this had been done, the fate of Ukraine a counterattack that began in 2023 would not have happened and many leaders in Europe would live with the naive belief that by channeling more resources and weapons to Ukraine, this country would have made significant military successes and could negotiate. It is clear that this will not happen and that it will lead to more disasters, more victims, greater removal from peace and loss of even more territories for Ukraine. That is why conferences as today are extremely important, he stressed.

President Radef noted that together with King Abdallah II, about 30 delegations are welcomed to Sofia, led by heads of state, representatives of governments, intergovernmental and non -governmental organizations and head of diplomatic missions in Bulgaria.

The two Heads of State welcomed, among other things, Bosnia-Herzegovina President Zelika Cviyanovic, the Republic of Northern Macedonia Gordana Silianovska-Davkova, by Slovenia, Natasa Pirz Musar, Majar Musar Musar, Osmani, Croatia Zoran Milanovic, Serbia Alexander Vucic and Belgian Interior Minister Bernard Kenn.

The AKABA process is a series of international meetings launched by King Abdallah II in 2015. The conference is dedicated to terrorism, irregular migration and radicalization, and gives the opportunity to analyze the challenges, to compare the prospects and to seek out the prospects and to seek out solutions.

With an official ceremony on Thursday at St. Alexander Nievski Square in Sofia, President Radef welcomed King Abdallah II of Jordan, who pays an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of the country’s president.
