The Israeli Prime Minister will be in the White House on Monday, the first foreign leader to meet Trump personally to negotiate agreement
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to visit the White House on Monday to discuss the issue of recent imposition of US duties with President Donald Trump, three Israeli officials today confirmed to Reuters. The White House officially confirmed the visit of the Israeli Prime Minister on Monday.
The extraordinary visit of Netanyahu to Washington was first mentioned by the Axios news website, stressing that in the event of a visit, the Israeli prime minister will be the first foreign leader to meet Trump personally to attempt to negotiate a deal.
Netanyahu’s office has not confirmed the visit, whose agenda could include discussions about Iran and Israel’s war against the Hamas armed organization in the Gaza Strip.
The invitation-surprise by President Trump was made during a telephone conversation with Netanyahu on Thursday, with the Israeli prime minister visiting Hungary when he himself raised the issue of duties, according to Israeli officials.
This is the second time that Benjamin Netanyahu has been visiting the White House since the US president assumed his duties and was the first foreign leader to have a formal meeting with Trump in Washington on February 4, 2025, with the aim of reinforcing the US.
