“The latest global developments have clearly shown that Turkey’s accession to the EU will have great added value and there is no doubt about that,” he said.
For his part, Mark Rutte said: “I must say that Turkey is of great military and political importance to the NATO Alliance. This country is also an important partner for the EU. Turkey implements UN sanctions. However, Turkey has a special geographical position as well as due to its involvement in Syria. “We would like Turkey to impose sanctions, but we are satisfied with the leadership and diplomatic role it has taken on now.”
