About 350 Israeli writers signed a letter seeking an end to the devastating war in Gaza, according to a report in the Times of Israel today.
Similar calls have been formulated by the Armed Forces’ ranks, with the military in favor of ending the war and an agreement with Hamas to release hostages.
Signatories include famous writers such as David Grossman, Joshua Sobol and Zeruja Salev.
“This war is jeopardizing the lives of the Israeli armed forces, hostages and causes horrific suffering of unprotected civilians in Gaza,” the letter said.
“What is committed in Gaza and occupied territories are not in our name, but will burden us,” the authors stress.
Signers call on the immediate termination of the military operation against the Islamic Palestinian movement of Hamas, the return of hostages abducted to the Gaza Strip and an international agreement on the future of the Gaza Strip.
The authors accuse Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of continuing the war for personal reasons.
