Students of the University of Belgrade interrupted the exclusion of the public television building (RTS) tonight 14 days. In this decision they ended up after satisfying their basic request, which was Starting procedures to set up independent electronic media regulatory authority (REM). There had been an extraordinary meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Information, where it was unanimously decided to announce a tender for the election of REM members. The authority that controls the work of the electronic media had been dissolved in November 2024 and – as students complained – the government was trying to prevent its recommendation with various irregularities.

The blockade of the public television building began on the night of April 14 in protest for the way it covered student mobilizations. Students argued that journalistic coverage of mobilizations was not objective and complained that public television often used derogatory characterizations for the action of students.

During the exclusion, public television interrupted the regular flow of the program and ceased to broadcast broadcasts and newsletters. A large number of public television journalists and workers They supported the students’ request for objective information.
