Poland froze the accounts of the Russian embassy in Warsaw

by

THE Russian ambassador to Poland stated today that Warsaw has blocked all accounts of the Russian embassy on the pretext that they may be used for terrorist financing or for money laundering.

“Our accounts have been frozen following a decision by the (Polish) Ministry of Finance and following a decision by the Polish prosecutor,” Ambassador Sergei Andreev told Russian state television.

Andreev added that Warsaw justified the decision by saying that “resources from our accounts could be used to launder money laundering or to finance terrorism.”

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday Wednesday that deports 45 Russian diplomats who are believed to have been spying for Moscow. Russia called the accusation baseless.

When asked about the deportation of these diplomats and whether the resources of the Russian embassy have been frozen, Polish Prime Minister Matteo Morawiecki replied today: “I can only say that we are dealing with the freezing of the resources of the Russian Federation.”
