US President Donald Trump has announced that it intends to rename “Niki Days” on November 11 and May 8, critical dates of the two world wars.

“I rename the 8th day of victory during the Second World War and the November 11th day of Niki during World War I,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.

May 8, which is widely celebrated in Western Europe (Russia is celebrating this day on 9 May), is not a holiday in the United States. It is the date of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945.

After the end of hostilities in Europe, World War II continued in Asia until the signing of Japan’s capitulation on September 2.

On November 11th, the signature of the truce was honored in 1918 that ended the battles of World War I between Germany and the Allies. This date is a holiday in the United States and is called “Veterans Day” in honor of the former fighters.

“Many allies and friends are celebrating May 8th until the day of victory, but we have done more than any other country, much more, to secure a victorious result during World War II,” Trump said.

“We won the two wars, no one reached us even his little finger in terms of power, bravery or military intellect, but we never celebrate anything – that is why we no longer have leaders who know how to do it!” The president said. “We will start celebrating our victories again!”

However, this statement was not immediately followed by the issuance of a decree.

The United States played a crucial role in the two world wars, where they were involved in military, but also provided very important material support to the allies, on the contrary, it was not the country that sent most soldiers or suffered the highest losses.

During World War I, after initially refusing to get involved in the conflict, the United States decided to enter the war in 1917, pushed mainly by the intensification of the German submarine war, which targeted the US Navy.

They mobilized four million men, far less than the allied countries in Europe where most of the conflict (almost nine million for France or Britain, including colonies, six million for Italy, 18 million for Russia). Also, the assessment of their losses is much lower than those of other countries.

During World War II, the United States began providing assistance to the allies and entered the war after being attacked directly from Japan on Pearl Harbor Atis 7 December 1941.

According to data from the US National Museum for World War II, the United States lost 416,800 troops during the war, more than Britain (383,600) but fewer than the USSR, whose losses are between 8.8 and 10.7 million.
