An even greater colonial expansion is clear, the priority of the Israeli government, the UN Ad Hoc Committee points out.
People may be a witness to “another Nakba” in the Palestinian territories, a Special Committee of the United Nations warned today, referring to the great Palestinian displacement during the war that accompanied the establishment of Israel in 1948.
“Israel continues to cause unthinkable suffering to people living under its possession, while expanding the rapid seizure of territories within its broader colonial ambitions,” the UN Ad Hoc Committee warned, responsible for investigating Israeli methods.
“What we see could well be another Nakba. The goal of an even greater colonial expansion is clearly the priority of the Israeli government,” the Commission found in its report, following a mission to Jordan.
This committee was set up by the UN General Assembly in December 1968. It includes the permanent representatives of Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Senegal at the UN in New York.
“Security companies serve as a tobacco proposition for rapid rapture of territories, mass displacements, deprivation of property, demolitions, violent expense and ethnic cleansing to replace Palestinian communities with Jewish settlers,” the report adds.
Nakba (“destruction” in Arabic) is the term used by the Palestinians to describe the exit of about 760,000 among them, who were forced to abandon their land with the founding of the State of Israel in 1948.
