Colonel Medvechek, who commanded the 37th Motorized Rifle Brigade, is believed to have been deliberately killed.
An unnamed official said: “The brigade commander was killed by his own troops and was killed by his own troops, we believe, as a consequence of the scale of the losses suffered by his brigade.”

He added: “We believe he was deliberately killed by his own troops. We believe that he was succeeded by his own troops. ”
The official added that one lieutenant general who commanded the 49th Combined Arms Army also died in battle, making him the seventh Russian general to be killed in battle since the invasion began.
