The President of France Emmanuel Macron warned tonight that Europeans would continue to prepare the sanctions they would impose on Russia ‘In coordination’ with the US, as long as Moscow continues to deny an unconditional ceasefire in the Ukraine.

“What remains timely (…) the only specific proposal made is that of an unconditional ceasefire,” Macron said, commenting, from Tirana where he is, the fruitless conversations that the delegations of Russia and Ukraine had in Constantinople.

Referring to the situation in the Gaza Strip, Macron reiterated that the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave is something “unacceptable”. As he said, he hopes to discuss this issue soon with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.

The French president also spoke about the presidential election to be held in Romania and feared that the victory of the far -right, Euroscepticist Jorman Simon would have “negative consequences” for neighboring Moldova.

“If the pro -European and anti -European candidate (…) is elected the consequences for Moldova will be of course extremely destructive,” he told reporters, without giving further explanations.
