Most Israelis believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is more interested in staying in power than winning the war or releasing hostages, according to a new poll aired on Friday night on Channel 12.

  • When asked about who they believe is the main goal of the Israeli prime minister, 55% responded that Netanyahu were mainly interested in staying in power, 36% said they were interested in returning hostages and 9% said they were not sure. At the same level, the reactions to a similar question remained on whether “winning the war in Israel” was a priority of the prime minister.
  • When asked why they believed there was no other agreement on hostages, 53% of respondents responded “for political reasons”, 38% responded to “legal reasons” while 9% said they were not sure.
  • When asked if Netanyahu generally managed to convince them at a press conference this week, 62% of respondents responded “no”, 34% responded “yes” and 4% were not sure.
  • When asked if they believed Netanyahu when he said on Thursday that he did not know if his top assistants were working on Qatar’s behalf, 58% responded “no”, 30% responded “yes” and 12% said they were not sure.

Among the coalition voters, 58% said they believed him and 27% said they didn’t believe him.
