An unprecedented rescue operation, where 16 badentents were removed by helicopter to then be transported by truck to a protected habitat
An unprecedented rescue operation set up in Cambodia, where 16 Baddenz – Wild cattle threatened with extinction, partly due to deforestation – they were removed by helicopter to then be transported by truck to a protected habitat, according to environmental organizations.
Baden, endemic to Southeast Asia, is included in the red list of endangered species of the International Union for the Protection of Nature (IUCN). Only a few thousand remain in the wild, threatened by poaching, logging and industrialization.
According to the Global Forest Watch, Cambodia has lost 33% of its forests since 2000, as authorities have allowed companies to deforest huge areas, including protected areas.
Environmental organizations Rising Phoenix and Siem Pang Conservation They reported that 16 Baddng were captured over three days last week and then removed by helicopter before being transported by truck to a protected habitat in the area SIE PANG in northeast Cambodia.
The business lasted a total of four days.
Environmental organizations have spoken of ‘Important achievement’ that paves the way for similar businesses aimed at relocating Baden that have been trapped in isolated forests elsewhere in the country.
