Russia accuses Azerbaijan of violating Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire agreement

Russia today accused Azerbaijan of violating the ceasefire agreement with Armenia, which was signed after the Nagorno-Karabakh war in 2020, as its troops entered the zone controlled by Russian peacekeepers.

“Between March 24 and 25, the Azerbaijani armed forces violated the tripartite agreement between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, entering the zone under the responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping unit in Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said. Russian Ministry of Defense in a press release.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Azerbaijani forces set up an observatory and carried out “four Bayraktar drone raids” on Nagorno-Karabakh forces near the Farouk region.

“The Russian command of the peacekeeping unit is taking measures to resolve the situation (…), a call for the withdrawal of troops has been sent to the Azerbaijani side,” the press release reads.
