“Due to daily Russian air raids, F-16s are vital to Ukraine,” Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said
The last batch of Dutch F-16s is already on the way to Ukraine, according to the Hague defense ministry.
The statement states that fighter aircraft will temporarily park in Belgium, where they will be prepared for their surrender to Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Subsequently, there will be 24 F-16 fighters delivered by the Netherlands to Ukraine.
The Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Bekelmans spoke of a major milestone. “Due to daily Russian air raids, F-16s are vital to Ukraine“, He said and emphasized that the country’s defense against Russian attacks is also in the interest of the Western European allies of Kiev.
The Dutch minister has spoken of significant successes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces thanks to the F-16s, including Russian rockets and drones.
The first batch of fighter aircraft from the Netherlands had surrendered to Ukraine last year. According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, Kiev will continue to receive support for the F-16s in the form of training, spare parts, ammunition and fuel.
The Netherlands is leading the international coalition to strengthen Ukraine by F-16 fighter aircraft, along with Denmark and the US.
