In a boycott of this year’s ceremony Oscarsif Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensk is not allowed to speak at the event, famous actor, Sean Penneven threatening to “publicly melt the Oscars” he has received in the past.
Although since yesterday it is rumored that Zelensky is in talks with the Academy to send a video message to the Oscars, there is currently no official update.
U.S. media reports say the Academy is “confused” as to whether it’s right to take a political stand on the war in Ukraine or stay out of it.
However, many artists have expressed their support for the country in practice, such as Mila Kounis and Aston Kutcher, even organizing a fundraiser for the country.
For his part, world-famous actor Sean Penn, who was in Ukraine in the early days of the war for a documentary, told CNN yesterday that he would be disappointed if the Academy refused the Ukrainian president to speak.
“There is nothing more important that the Oscars can do than give him a chance to speak to all of us,” said Sean Penn.
In fact, the famous actor said that he would ruin the Oscars he has won, if Zelensky is not finally invited to speak.
