The delegations of Russia and Ukraine will meet in Istanbul, Turkey, for a new round of face-to-face talks, the Turkish presidency announced tonight in a press release, as reported by AFP and Reuters news agencies.
During a telephone conversation tonight, “Turkish (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) President Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to hold the next round of talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.” Turkish Presidency.
The two leaders discussed the negotiation process, and Erdogan assured his Russian counterpart that Turkey was ready to make “any necessary contribution” to implementing a ceasefire in Ukraine and “improving the humanitarian situation in the region.”
Earlier in the day, one of the Ukrainian negotiators, David Arakhamia, announced that a new round of talks would take place from Monday to Wednesday in Turkey, without specifying the venue of the talks.
Russia’s chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky has confirmed that the talks will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Russian news agencies.
The Turkish presidency did not specify the exact date of the meetings.
