In Mariupol with the Chechen commandos Ramzan Kadyrov, Russian media report

The French news agency AFP quoted Russian media as saying that Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, a close ally of Vladimir Putin, had traveled to Mariupol to mobilize troops to attack the southeastern city.

“Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is in Mariupol to boost the morale of our fighters”he stated Akmed Dudayevone of Kadyrov’s closest associates, reports AFP, citing the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.

RIA Novosti published a photo in which Kadyrov is seen posing among thirty armed men, inside an enclosed space, stating that the snapshot was taken in Mariupol.

According to Agence France-Presse, Russian television, on the other hand, aired footage showing a meeting between Kadyrov and a man posing as a Russian general. Andrei Mordvitchovwho according to the Ukrainian army has been killed.

AFP is not in a position to verify these allegations independently.
