The President of Brazil, Mr. Zaich Bolsonaruwas admitted last night to a military hospital in Brasilia to undergo examinations because he felt unwell, Brazilian media reported.
Mr Bolsonaru, 67, was stabbed in the abdomen during his 2018 election campaign and has had recurring gastrointestinal problems ever since.
In fact, yesterday he was absent from a pre-election rally of the Republican Party, where he would appear.
“I am sure the president is doing well, he has undergone some examinations, that is why he is not here,” explained the party’s president, MP Marcus Pereira.
According to the G1 news website, First Lady Michel Bolsonaro went to the rally and assured that her husband was “doing well”, while Communications Minister Fabio Faria spoke of “illness”.
The far-right president needed hospitalization on two occasions, in July and January, for problems with his intestinal tract. He has undergone several surgeries after the attack against him in 2018.
