Warren Buffett will donate about $ 6 billion from Berkshire Hathaway shares to five institutions, as part of a promise he made almost two decades ago, according to Bloomberg.

About 9.43 million shares will be given to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, according to a statement. Another 2.92 million shares will be given to his children’s institutions – Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett Foundation and Novo Foundation – as well as the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named after his deceased wives of billionaire.

The 94 -year -old launched the Giving Pledge charity campaign in 2010 with Bill Gates and Melinda Frances Gates with the aim of donating the fortunes either as he lives or when he dies. Four years earlier, he had begun to donate to the Gates Foundation, as well as to institutions associated with his children.

Earlier this year, Buffet announced that he would leave Berkshire Hathaway’s chief executive by the end of 2025, leaving this role in his right -handed right hand, Greg Ebel. Buffett said he would not sell a single Berkshire Hathaway share, but would gradually give them.

Buffett’s participation in Berkshire now consists of Category A and 1,144 Class B shares b.

“I have no debts and the remaining shares are worth about $ 145 billion, much more than 99% of my net property,” Buffet said. “My covenant predicts that about 99.5% of my property is intended for charity use,” he added.
