The head of the Turkish secret services Ibrahim Kalin met on Sunday with leaders of the Islamist Palestinian movement in Hamas to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the efforts made to achieve a ceasefire.
Kalin met with Mohammad Daruis, the head of the Hamas Political Council, and the organization’s delegation, in a location where was not revealed, reported the agency citing sources of security services. They discussed the situation in Gaza and Turkey’s efforts to end the war and “ensure the immediate entry of help” in the Palestinian enclave destroyed after 20 months of war.
They also referred to “the need for unanimity between Palestinian organizations in this critical period” and “the measures to be taken to achieve a permanent truce in Gaza,” the same sources added.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump appeared optimistic that there could be a ceasefire of fire “From next week.”
In early March, Israel imposed a complete exclusion on the Palestinian enclave resulting in huge shortages of food, medicines and other essentials. At the end of May, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), supported by Israel and the US, began distributing food to special distribution centers.
The US announced on Thursday that they released $ 30 million to fund this institution, during food distribution operations, which are often chaotic, multiple scenes.
